Job role – Study support assistant
Hours- full time and part time
Type of role- Temporary – Ongoing
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To deliver and plan the out of class support, specialist assessments and reviews.
- To undertake the teaching of SEN students with Education Health and Care Plans, across the range of SEN needs and ages, and particularly those learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and other related conditions.
- To give specific learning and personal development support to learners with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) according to their needs outlined in their plan.
- The support could relate to behavioural, emotional or social needs which impact on learning.
- Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings, such as Looked After Child, regarding students with SEN, which will involve reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) Be accountable for the attainment and progress of all students who are taught by the postholder as well as driving impact of the team.
- Produce student SEN passports, monitor student social communication development, contribute to provision mapping and annual reviews for students.
- Support staff training to meet the needs of the students in the mainstream setting. Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Use special equipment and facilities, such as audio-visual materials and computers to stimulate interest in learning.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for learners in relation to the curriculum.
- Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and education psychologists.
- Work closely with parents and guardians. To provide pastoral support and guidance for all students in the postholder’s care, classes, or tutor group.
- To contribute to the overall development work of the teaching and learning area team
Who we are looking for:
Skills & experience
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English
- Experience with working within an educational environment providing academic or personal care support
- Experience with providing/willingness to provide personal care support to individuals with high needs (i.e. peg feeding, toileting, changing etc.)
- Available to interview immediately
- Right to Work & Enhanced Adult/Child DBS on the update service
