Morgan Hunt are currently working with a well-established Industry Regulator, in their search for a temporary Senior Governance & Assurance Manager to manage a range of activities that support the delivery of the Assurance Framework and the Annual Assurance Plan.

You will be responsible for managing regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with data protection regulation and to maintain the Risk and Issue register, ensuring all risks are documented, reviewed, and mitigated.

You will also support with providing independent risk management advice and supporting colleagues to strengthen their understanding and application of effective risk and issue management.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in leading risk assessments and managing compliance in a digital context. You must be a well-communicated, proactive self-starter, with the ability to influence and negotiate with senior executives.

Job Title: Senior Governance & Assurance Manager

Location: London, Glasgow or Cardiff (1 days per week)

Pay Rate: Up to £500.00 per day (Inside IR35)

Job Type: Temporary Contract (6 months)

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Lead risk assessments related to data security, privacy, and compliance
• Manage operational risks and issues for digital projects, providing guidance and support to project teams
• Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including data protection
• Maintain the Risk and Issue register, ensuring all risks are documented, reviewed, and mitigated
• Provide risk management advice and challenge to senior leaders and stakeholders
• Deliver assurance activities, including internal audits and compliance assessments
• Collaborate with frontline teams to identify and mitigate weaknesses in existing controls
• Support the development and implementation of the Annual Assurance Plan
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Communicate risk management strategies and updates to senior management and committees
• Engage with government stakeholders and third-party contractors to ensure alignment with organisation’s risk management framework.

Person Specification

• Extensive knowledge of risk management theory and its application in practical scenarios
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with senior executives
• Proven experience in leading risk assessments and managing compliance in a digital context.
• Ability to review and challenge processes, ensuring they meet high standards of governance
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of HMT Risk Management guidance for government departments
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in risk management
• Membership of the Institute of Risk Managers or similar professional body.
