Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Tonbridge

Position: Full-time

Hours: 8.30 am – 3.30 pm

Pay: £15-£16 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive college located in Tonbridge. We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting students with a range of SEND and who can contribute to a positive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work under the guidance of the classroom teacher to support SEND students in achieving their individual educational and developmental goals

· Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and provide tailored support to students with a variety of learning needs, such as ASC, ADHD, dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties

· Encourage and assist students during classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated

· Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary

· Promote positive behaviour and social skills, implementing strategies to support students in managing their own behaviour

· Prepare and organise resources and materials to assist in delivering effective learning activities.

· Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.

Qualifications and Skills:

· Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or within a special education setting is preferred

· A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual who is comfortable working with children/young adults who have a range of learning difficulties and behavioural challenges

· Good understanding of the curriculum and various educational strategies to support children/young adults with SEND

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals

· Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively

· Enhanced DBS check on update service or willingness to undertake one
