Are you a Reviews Officer looking for work in East London?

Morgan Hunt’s Public Sector and Government client based in East London is looking to recruit a Reviews Officer to provide support throughout a busy period.

This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35.

As a Reviews Officer, you will be responsible for conducting reviews of housing assessments and decisions, with a focus on ensuring compliance with Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996 and other relevant legislation.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Specifically, conduct reviews in accordance with Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996, which pertains to the right to request a review of a local authority’s decision on homelessness applications. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and procedural fairness throughout the review process.
  • Conduct independent reviews of housing assessments and decisions, including homelessness assessments, housing benefit determinations, and housing allocations. Evaluate the evidence, consider relevant legislation and case law, and make impartial and well-reasoned decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients throughout the review process, explaining their rights, options, and the review procedure. Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their views and circumstances are accurately represented in the review process.
  • Make fair and impartial decisions based on the evidence presented during the review process, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Document decisions and provide clear and concise reasoning for outcomes.
  • Liaise with clients, legal representatives, and other stakeholders regarding the outcome of reviews and the potential for further appeal processes. Provide information and assistance to clients seeking to escalate their case to higher authorities or tribunals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhancements to the review process. Provide feedback and recommendations to management on ways to streamline procedures, improve efficiency, and enhance the client experience.
