Programme Lead in Sports. Full Time. 37 Hours Per Week. Permanent.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Childcare and Education, Health and Science, Health and Social Care and Sports (CHHS) department. The department is responsible for delivering 16-19 and adult vocational curriculum on both full and part time programmes.  

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Programme Lead to be responsible for level 1 and level 2 Sports students. Within the role you will ensure students are suitable for and on the right programme. You will monitor their development of study and employability skills and ensure that they are provided with the necessary teaching, learning and assessment to progress to positive destinations. You will also undertake 1:1 tutorials, setting and reviewing SMART targets, and working alongside lecturers and support staff to monitor student behaviours, attendance and punctuality and update the college systems accordingly. A good level of planning skills and prioritising tasks is advantageous in this role. 

As well as being the Programme Lead, you will also have a teaching commitment. 

The successful candidate will have recent relevant experience of teaching Sports programmes and be: 

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Hold Level 2 minimum in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent).
  • Fully Teacher qualified to Level 5 or above e.g. Diploma in Education and Training, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent.

You will be expected to develop lesson plans to meet individual learner needs and deliver innovative lessons that motivate and enthuse learners who may have previously struggled in school. You will create interesting and engaging resources that help contextualise the subject and facilitate learning.  

You will have a flexible attitude to working as some evening and non-term time teaching may be required to fit the requirements of the department. The ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and timely completion of paperwork is essential.
