Payroll compliance specialist

Morgan Hunt is working with a National Regulatory body who are recruiting for a Payroll compliance specialist. This position will sit within the Pensions payroll team as a main point of contact for all payroll related issues within the organisation.

The perfect candidate will need to ensure all pension contributions are calculated efficiently and accurately while working with key contacts in HMRC and DWP. As well as keeping up to date with relevant legislative changes and communications impacting the payroll software industry and services they provide.

This role will also support and present at Automatic enrolment ( AE ) conferences , payroll conferences and other speaking events within the industry.

This permanent hybrid role based in Brighton and is paying up to £55,000.

Key Responsibilities of the Payroll compliance specialist :

  • Support AE Compliance and Enforcement ( C & E ) from a payroll perspective on all case work, as required
  • Deep understanding of the payroll industry and systems including the key stakeholders, enabling Auto enrolment to thoroughly investigate any non-compliance in this area and put corrective solutions in place where necessary
  • Develop payroll data analysis and compliance tools that support AE C&E investigations
  • To help the major AE payroll and middleware software providers understand the AE regulations
  • To run a programme of face-to-face meetings with large software providers ensuring all aspects of their AE design are compliant
  • To keep a record of all external payroll related meetings ensuring networking and contact details are recorded and maintained
  • To plan AE software industry engagement campaigns and attend public speaking events as agreed.

Previous Skills and Experience of the Payroll compliance specialist :

  • 5 years payroll software industry experience
  • Membership of CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals)
  • Excellent working knowledge of payroll industry and best practices, including HMRC tax and NI rules
  • Expert on AE legislation, particularly assessment and pay reference period processes
  • Use of standard Office IT software applications
  • Strong working knowledge of pension provider industry and middleware software industry
  • Technical knowledge of payroll software systems
