Part Time Refuge Worker – North London

Shifts – Monday – Friday – 9am – 5pm (22.5 hours)

Pay – 14-19 per hour

Location – North London – No Hybrid Working

Are you passionate about supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse? We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Refuge Workers to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide advice and tailored support, manage a caseload, and oversee the smooth operation of our refuge to help women rebuild their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and Advocacy:
    • Work with residents to create and review individual support plans, safety plans, and risk assessments.
    • Link residents to specialised services to meet their practical and emotional needs.
    • Provide assistance with benefits, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit applications.
  • Refuge Management:
    • Manage admissions and resettlement of residents, ensuring void rooms are prepared and available.
    • Oversee the health and safety of the house, conducting checks, organising repairs, and managing crisis situations.
    • Chair house meetings, fostering resident engagement in the smooth running of the refuge.
  • Financial Administration:
    • Ensure timely submission of Housing Benefit applications and follow up on payments.
    • Prioritise rent and service charge collection, accurately recording payments.
  • Partnership and Communication:
    • Maintain strong relationships with local authorities and other statutory and voluntary agencies.
    • Attend regular staff meetings and contribute to the development of effective working practices.

Requirements

  • A commitment to safeguarding adults and children and adherence to equality and diversity policies.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals and understanding their unique needs.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and adhering to confidentiality policies.
