Position: Outreach Support Worker – Domestic Abuse

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Advisor to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to prevent domestic abuse by offering support, advice, and assistance to adults within the community who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safety planning, support, advice, and assistance to adults in the community to help them stay safe and maintain their current or new accommodation.
- Empower and support all victims and survivors of domestic abuse to make informed and positive choices.
- Collaborate with the Southampton IDVA service to deliver Pippa (Prevention, Intervention, and Public Protection Alliance), providing initial advice, information, and guidance to victims, professionals, and family members.
- Participate in the on-call out-of-hours rota.
- Engage in fund raising activities to support our mission.
- Publicise the support available to women, children, and men at risk of domestic abuse.
- Record and maintain up-to-date statistics of enquiries and referrals.
- Monitor and evaluate projects to ensure the effectiveness of our services.
- Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to our values and ethos.
- Work with volunteers to extend our reach and impact.
- Establish effective working relationships with colleagues in other services, including education, social services, local authorities, police, and voluntary agencies, to enhance their understanding of domestic violence issues.
- Act as an advocate for children and young people when necessary.
- Participate as a member of our staff team, including regular attendance at team meetings, supervision and appraisal sessions, training, and other events.
- Take responsibility for continuous professional self-development.
- Respond to emergencies outside office hours on a rota basis.
- Ensure client confidentiality is maintained in accordance with our confidentiality policy.
- Provide cover for absent colleagues during periods of sickness, holidays, etc., as requested by a manager.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the scope and grade of the post as may be requested from time to time to meet the needs of clients and the service.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within domestic abuse prevention or related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and with integrity.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies and participate in the on-call rota.
