Job Title: Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA)

Location: West London
Salary: £13-18 Per hour

About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality advice, information, and support to Black and minoritised women and children experiencing domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals by offering practical assistance, advocacy, and access to essential services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed support and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual abuse, and related issues such as immigration and asylum.
  • Assist women in accessing support through destitution schemes and our No Recourse Fund.
  • Promote social inclusion and empower women by encouraging independence and building personal resilience.
  • Liaise with external agencies and refer service users to appropriate services to ensure a holistic approach to support.
  • Conduct risk assessments and participate in local Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs).
  • Maintain case files and records in line with organisational standards and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the service user is at the heart of service delivery, and contribute to the organisation’s policy and campaigning work to challenge legal and social injustices.
  • Engage in outreach work, provide training to professionals and contribute to the organisation’s campaigns and advocacy.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience providing support and advocacy for victims of domestic abuse or other forms of gender-based violence.
  • Strong understanding of the issues affecting Black and minoritised women, including immigration and asylum.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and statutory agencies.
  • Competency in maintaining accurate records and case management systems.
  • Commitment to social justice, equality, and human rights.
