Are you searching for a fulfilling job that gives you a unique opportunity to be part of an extraordinary journey to create a brand new museum for London? Are you looking for a role that will enhance your CV with experience on a large capital project?

The new museum will sit in atmospheric former market buildings, at the heart of one of the capital’s most historic and creative quarters, Smithfield. The New Museum project is one of the largest cultural projects in Europe and will transform the museum, Smithfield and the City of London.

The New Museum Finance and Contracts Manager is a key member of the small team providing hands on finance and procurement support and keeping close to the detail of the contracts and budgets on the project.

The main purpose of the role is to provide support to the management of a number of trade and other contracts related to New Museum Project, dealing primarily with construction works but also consultants and other services as required, to raise purchase orders promptly and ensure appropriate approvals are in place, contract variations are tracked and logged and are in keeping with tenders and subsequent invoicing is accurate per the terms of the contract.

The role would suit somebody from a finance and/or procurement background who has a keen attention to detail, is proactive and able to reconcile data from various sources, largely excel based, to ensure the finances of the project are accurate and align with procurement schedules and internal protocols. This role is crucial in liaising with the project managers to ensure that the professional fees and construction costs and contracts of the project are correct as these are the basis for a large proportion of the costs in the project’s financial reporting that is used by senior museum staff and external parties. This role will report to the Head of Project Accounting and will be in support of the Head of Procurement to ensure the contracts are appropriately managed throughout the course of their term and ensure commitments are appropriately recorded and work closely with the Finance team on payments and new supplier set up.
