Morgan Hunt are currently working with a National Healthcare Regulatory Body in their search for a legal Officer to join there regulatory legal team on a temporary basis. This role is predominantly to provide legal advice and representation to Regulation members in regulatory law proceedings.

Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Hybrid (London)

Hourly Rate: £20.17 PAYE (£22.97 PAYE Including London Weighting)

Job Type: Temporary – 12 weeks

Hours: Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities of the Legal Officer:

• Represent Regulatory members in respect of regulatory proceedings arising out of the NHS and Independent healthcare sectors

• Instruct advocates in respect of regulatory proceedings arising out of the NHS and Independent healthcare sectors, including charges of alleged professional misconduct brought by the connecting membership body

• Provide advice and representation to the organisations members in other Regulatory matters such as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) cases, including representations and appeals in barring cases and in challenging DBS enhanced disclosure entries (including Judicial Reviews)

• Manage caseloads and, in conjunction with lawyers and support staff within the department, work as part of the regulatory law team and the wider Legal Department

• Refer cases of the organisations members charged with criminal offences to private agent solicitors, and to manage those files as may be necessary

Person Specification of the Legal Officer:

• You should be a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Barrister

• You should have expert knowledge of either regulatory, criminal, employment, public law or civil litigation

• Experience of managing a large case load of approximately between 50-100 cases (depending on specialism) with supervision and taking direction accordingly

• Experience of working within a team, and ensuring that all internal operating protocols and customer service standards are met

• Ability to advise and represent members on all aspects of regulatory law

• You should have commitment and evidence of continuous professional development
