Position – IT Field Operations Manager

Working from home with regular travel to clients around Richmond/Fulham/Slough

An exciting opportunity has become available, working as an IT Field Operations Manager for a growing Website Design & Development Agency. Acting as their IT & Operations Manager, they are looking for someone with hands-on technical experience and a client facing background.

Role Overview

As the IT Field Operations Manager, you’ll spearhead a team of highly skilled field and remote engineers, ensuring operational efficiency and technical excellence. Based within 60 minutes of Richmond, you’ll be responsible for leading by example, managing IT projects, and serving as the go-to escalation point for technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspire and lead a team of senior/3rd line field engineers and remote engineers.
• Establish and maintain processes to enhance team performance, training, and documentation.
• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, provide constructive feedback, and set measurable goals.
• Take ownership of escalated third-line issues, leveraging advanced technical expertise.
• Oversee and manage critical infrastructure, including Windows Servers (2016-2022), Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and networking technologies (VLANs, DNS, firewalls).
• Ensure compliance with Cyber Essentials, GDPR, and other industry standards.
• Manage end-to-end delivery of IT projects, from infrastructure upgrades to system migrations.
• Conduct site surveys and support pre-sales consultations.
• Close gaps in documentation by implementing comprehensive process and system records.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, nurturing long-term relationships.
• Represent the technical team in client meetings and contribute to pre-sales efforts.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in IT, with a proven track record in technical leadership roles.
• Proficiency in managing Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and advanced networking technologies (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet).
• Industry certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect or Cisco CCNP are highly desirable.

Skills:

• Strong communication skills, particularly in client-facing situations.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and experience implementing structured processes.

Other Essentials:

• Valid UK driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver results in high-stakes situations.
• Must be within a 1-hour commute to Richmond/Fulham/Slough.

Salary & Benefits

• Competitive salary: £55,000-£60,000 (negotiable for exceptional candidates).
• Fuel card and business mileage paid.
• Generous holiday allowance: 40 days annually (excluding Bank Holidays).
• Profit-sharing partnership scheme.

This is a permanent opportunity. WThis is a Monday to Friday role, working from home with regular travle to Richmond/Fulham/Slough. Paying £55,000 – £60,000 per annum, plus strong company benefits including 40 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays), and a profit-sharing scheme.
