Interim Senior Payroll Officer

Morgan Hunt are working with a Housing Association who are looking to recruit a Senior Payroll Officer. This is a 4-month contract role paying up to £22 p/hour. This role will be based 4 days p/week remote and one day in the Staffordshire office.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Officer:

• Lead payroll projects, including National Minimum Wage compliance, Pension Reviews, and Holiday Premium Implementation.
• Provide support to Payroll Officers and assist the Payroll Manager with project delivery and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with payroll and pension legislation, including HMRC regulations.
• Assist with payroll audits, system maintenance, and upgrades to ensure smooth payroll operations.
• Oversee payroll delivery, including processing adjustments and deductions, expense claims, and employee-related changes.
• Support payroll year-end processes, third-party payments, and salary increases.

Previous Skills and Experience of the Senior Payroll Officer:

• Experience working in a payroll team and managing payroll projects, including compliance reviews.
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups).
• Ability to work within processes, meet deadlines, and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on customer service.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory obligations.
• Ideally CIPP qualified (or working towards this with relevant experience).
