The organisation

In this Housing Support Officer opportunity in Coventry, you will join a charity organisation helping 16-25 year olds living in temporary accommodation gain independence and help transform their lives as they begin to move into permanent accommodation.

Key responsibilities

In this Housing Support Officer job, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a caseload of 8-12 at one time – 1:1 support plans based on each individual to help promote independent living
• Assisting with finances / budgeting / cooking skills / laundry / applying for jobs / getting back into education
• Along with independent living skills you will help individuals with bidding for housing and setting up benefits
• Planning activities or workshops to provide information, advice and guidance when living out of temporary accommodation
• Booking and attending appointments
• Helping them overcome barriers they may face externally – mental health / domestic violence / substance misuse / learning disabilities – encouraging them to engage with external agencies to seek help
• Keeping track of payments for Housing / service charge / rent etc

Skills & experience

• Proven track record of working In supported housing – up to date knowledge of housing legislation Is required
• Willing to travel across the Coventry area – care driver Is not essential but highly desired
• DBS on the update service – needs to be an enhanced child and adult cleared
• Flexible to work 5 days over 7 shift work
