Are you a Housing Register Officer looking for work in East London?

Morgan Hunt’s Public Sector and Government client based in East London, is looking to recruit a Housing Register Officer to provide support throughout a busy period.

This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35.

We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Housing Register Officer to join our housing services team. This role involves managing the housing register, assessing applications, and conducting homeless assessments in line with legislative and policy requirements. You will play a vital role in ensuring fair and efficient housing allocations and supporting individuals and families in need of housing assistance.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Conduct detailed homelessness assessments under Parts VI & VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including drafting decision letters such as Section 184 decisions.
  • Provide clear, empathetic advice to applicants regarding their housing options, eligibility, and application progress.
  • Process, assess, and prioritize applications for the housing register, ensuring compliance with the Housing Act 1996 and local allocation policies.
  • Verify applicant details, including financial status, medical needs, and eligibility, to ensure accurate prioritization and allocation.
  • Ensure all decisions and processes align with statutory requirements, council policies, and safeguarding standards.
  • Maintain accurate records in housing management systems such as Locata, Northgate, or Jigsaw, and produce reports as required.
  • Work with internal departments and external partners to support vulnerable individuals and facilitate access to appropriate housing solutions.
