Are you a Housing Needs Officer looking for work in East London?

Morgan Hunt’s Public Sector and Government client based in East London is looking to recruit a Housing Needs Officer to provide support throughout a busy period.

This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35.

As a Housing Needs Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality housing options and advice services, supporting clients in accessing housing solutions, and maximizing their entitlements through the benefits system.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Provide expert advice and support to clients on a range of welfare benefits, including Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and Discretionary Housing Payments. Conduct benefit entitlement assessments, assist with benefit applications, and represent clients in benefit appeals and tribunals.
  • Deliver comprehensive housing options and advice services to clients, including homelessness prevention, housing applications, and assistance with private renting. Conduct housing needs assessments, explore housing options, and provide information on available support services.
  • Utilize the JIGSAW system to record and manage client interactions, assessments, referrals, and case notes effectively. Ensure accurate and timely data entry and maintain compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to access appropriate housing solutions and support services, including liaising with landlords, local authorities, and support agencies. Provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower clients in navigating the benefits and housing systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, housing associations, and community organizations to coordinate support services and improve access to housing and benefits support for clients. Attend multi-agency meetings and forums as required.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops to clients and staff on welfare benefits, housing rights, and entitlements. Raise awareness about housing options, homelessness prevention, and benefit entitlements through community outreach and engagement activities.
