Are you a Homelessness Officer looking for work in East London?

Morgan Hunt’s Public Sector and Government client based in East London, is looking to recruit a Homelessness Officer to provide support throughout a busy period.

This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35.

As a Homelessness Officer, This role will involve managing cases, handling homelessness applications, providing tailored housing options advice, and navigating the complexities of Section 21 notices. Experience working with the JIGSAW system is essential for this role.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Process and assess homelessness applications in line with Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Provide tailored housing advice and options to individuals and families who are threatened with homelessness, including those affected by Section 21 eviction notices.
  • Deliver effective homelessness prevention strategies by working closely with clients to identify sustainable housing solutions and access support services.
  • Liaise with private landlords, housing associations, and other agencies to prevent homelessness and ensure suitable accommodation options.
  • Manage a caseload of homelessness applications, maintaining accurate case records using the JIGSAW system.
  • Offer guidance and support to clients on welfare benefits, budgeting, and other resources to help them sustain accommodation.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and local housing strategies to provide informed advice.
  • Engage with vulnerable individuals, ensuring that their needs are met, and working to prevent the need for temporary accommodation wherever possible.
