Head of Additional Learning Support

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: circa £45,000 to £50,000 per annum. Plus generous benefits. These include:

About the role
We are looking for someone to lead our substantial Additional Learning Support Team, delivering high quality and impactful Learning Support across the College for our students and apprentices with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)

You will lead, inspire, develop and motivate the team of sixty staff, of whom forty are Learning Support Practitioners providing 1:1 services to students. You will maintain and develop a positive team ethos with highly motivated staff to deliver outstanding support for students so that they can reach their full potential.

Responsible for an annual budget of c£1.7M, you will work to maximise the funding from the College’s High Needs Student (HNS) contracts, so that the department is fairly and accurately resourced and can deliver effective support that meets the needs of students and apprentices.

About the person
Educated to degree level and with an appropriate specialist qualification, you will have significant experience of working with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) within an education setting, and a proven track record of establishing and participating in external partnerships to deliver effective learning support.

You will have a good understanding of the Government agenda for education, lifelong learning, and students with LDD, and an excellent understanding of Further Education funding methodology, particularly the funding of Learning Support. You will be innovative, with the ability to inspire and motivate others, well organised with a good attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
