Finance Administrator

My Borders based client is seeking a Finance Administrator to join their finance team on a temporary 2-3 month basis.

The finance administrator will be expected to provide help and support across the finance team with activities including, but not limited to:

  • Entering purchase invoices into our accounting system
  • Updating rent records on our internal system
  • Reviewing expense accounts to identify trends, anomalies etc
  • Preparation of sales invoices for sundry sales
  • Supporting the debt collection process
  • Preparing schedules for accruals and prepayments
  • Running and distributing monthly management reports

We will provide full training to enable the successful candidate to use our different systems.

The candidate would need to be based in our office in Selkirk for at least the first week (for familiarisation and training) and ideally would be fully office-based, but a hybrid working pattern could be considered.

Person Specification

  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good data analysis skills – ideally, experienced in using Vlookups, filters, pivot tables, sumif, sub-totals, or demonstrate eagerness and ability to develop their excel skills
  • Experience in carrying out reconciliations / understanding of the importance of reconciliation controls and how they work.
  • Able to learn new systems quickly
  • Good attention to detail is essential
  • Able to work as part of a team and in an open plan office
  • Able to follow instructions and to ask questions and seek help when necessary.
  • Good keyboard skills
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Logical thinker with questioning mindset.
