Key Responsibilities:
- A Domestic Violence specialist, you will work pro-actively with women and children, offering risk assessed, strength based, and needs led support. You will work alongside each family, throughout their journey, agreeing individual and/or family safety support plans as well as advocating on the family’s behalf to achieve safe and independent living.
- Deliver support and domestic abuse awareness to women and their children who are residing in accommodation.
- Provide individual and family support plans to ensure that they have opportunities to work through their experiences of living with and leaving domestic abuse.
- Advocate on behalf of women and children with external agencies including where appropriate MARAC, courts, housing, children and adult social care, health and other voluntary and community organisations.
- Carry out risk assessments with the child/young person including the Teen DASH RIC and refer to the MARAC where an assessment is high risk.
- Plan, create and deliver therapeutic group work programmes for children and their mothers working closely with internal services and external agencies to ensure safety and well-being of attendees.
- Support the women accommodated within Juno accommodation services to meet the needs of their children, offering information and practical support including parenting, addressing challenging behaviour from their children, registering with appropriate agencies including nurseries/ schools and attendance at meetings.
Person Specification:
- Post is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1
- Experience of working with vulnerable children on a one-to-one basis in a school setting and/or vulnerable adults.
- Experience of working with women and/or children affected by domestic abuse.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding for adults and children.
- Drivers license and access to vehicle.
