Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Domestic Violence Specialist to provide direct support, advocacy, and intervention services to individuals experiencing domestic violence. This role involves working closely with survivors, community organisations, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to ensure safety and access to essential resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop individualised service plans.
  • Advocate for survivors in legal, health care, and housing settings.
  • Facilitate support groups, workshops, and educational programs.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, and other community partners to enhance support networks.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
  • Participate in outreach and awareness-raising activities.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or vulnerable populations.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, trauma-informed care, and advocacy principles.
  • Excellent communication, crisis intervention, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of and commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
  • Proficiency in relevant case management software and documentation practices.

Desirable Skills

  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Experience facilitating support groups or community training.
  • Knowledge of local resources, policies, and legal protections for survivors.
