Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Teaching and Learning to lead and enhance the academic experience across the institution. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and overseeing teaching strategies, ensuring high-quality educational outcomes for all students. This leadership position will involve collaborating with faculty and staff to promote best practices, support continuous improvement, and drive innovation in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to enhance teaching and learning across the institution
  • Provide leadership and support to academic staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in teaching
  • Ensure the curriculum is current, inclusive, and aligned with industry standards and academic best practices
  • Lead the evaluation of teaching practices, fostering a feedback-driven approach to student learning
  • Oversee the implementation of academic policies, ensuring they support a positive learning environment for all students
  • Monitor student progress and outcomes, implementing interventions where necessary to support student success
  • Collaborate with senior management to set institutional goals for teaching and learning
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative academic environment, ensuring staff development opportunities are provided to support professional growth
  • Represent the institution in academic forums and partnerships, promoting the vision for teaching and learning

Key Requirements

  • A postgraduate qualification in Education, Leadership, or a related field
  • Significant experience in a senior academic leadership role, with a strong track record in teaching and learning
  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, and current pedagogical trends
  • Experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on academic quality and student success
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to implement change effectively and drive continuous improvement
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a Director or senior leadership role in teaching and learning within higher education
  • Experience with academic quality assurance processes and institutional accreditation
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and digital teaching tools
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders in the development and delivery of educational strategies
