St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney is one of the largest hospices in the UK. We are a prestigious independent Catholic charity dedicated to providing high quality specialist palliative care and support to people nearing the end of their lives, and to their loved ones, irrespective of faith, no faith and background. We treat each person as unique, encouraging and enabling them to reach their full potential until the end of life.

St Joseph’s services include in-patient, out-patient, day care, respite care, advice and support in the individual’s home or care home, and bereavement support. Much of this is available 24/7. Our care is provided free of charge to anyone in the local community who needs it. We listen to the patient and their family so that we can work together to manage pain and distress whether physical, mental, social or spiritual. We encourage openness and honesty in communication to create an atmosphere of comfort and safety.

We are an ambitious and forward-looking organisation, with the goal of reaching even more people in our community who would benefit from our care. We will continue to build our reputation as a centre of excellence for specialist palliative care, working closely with primary care and local hospitals.

We are looking for a dynamic Director of Clinical Services who can lead the clinical teams going forward as we respond to greater demands in our communities, and we develop services further to respond to the changing demands of our patient population and our commissioners.

The Candidate

• Demonstrable relevant employment gained working in a senior clinical management capacity in a charity, health sector and Registered Manager experience in palliative care.
• Registrant with the NMC
• MSc in Palliative care or a related discipline
• Excellent communication skills sufficient to address wide and diverse audiences.
• Appreciation of working in a multi-cultural setting.
• Willing and able to conduct oneself in accordance with the Values and Behaviours Framework of St Joseph’s Hospice.
