Morgan Hunt are working with an NHS Trust based in Kent who are looking at recruiting a Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This is a 6 month contract role paying up to £53 p/hour. This is a hybrid role with 2 days p/week based remote.

Key Responsibilities of the Deputy CFO:

  • Provide clear understanding and forecasts of the Trust’s financial position, identifying key drivers, risks, and necessary actions.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Team and PMO to ensure consistent reporting of efficiency savings (CIPs) and their impact on the overall financial position.
  • Identify and enhance productivity opportunities with divisional teams, using benchmarking tools like Model Hospital.
  • Support the CFO in managing financial risks, ensuring action plans are in place to meet efficiency targets and mitigate risks to income and expenditure.
  • Work with key stakeholders to reduce agency and bank staff expenditure by 50% by 31/24.
  • Assist the CFO in developing the medium-term financial recovery plan, working with external system stakeholders like the Integrated Care Board (ICB).

Previous Skills and Experience of the Deputy CFO:

  • Experience working at CFO or Deputy CFO level within complex NHS acute providers.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering financial improvement programmes.
  • Strong communication and collaborative working skills.
  • Proactive, effective in providing constructive challenge, and knowledgeable of NHS financial issues.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent; CCAB qualification required.
