Catering technician – Technician and Support Practitioner (Hospitality & Catering)

Hours: Full-time – 36 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (Term Time Only)
Contract Type: Temporary – Ongoing

Are you passionate about hospitality and catering? Do you have a keen eye for detail and excellent organizational skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Catering technician.

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospitality and catering department. You will work closely with our Chef Lecturers and students to maintain the highest standards of service, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and maintain purchasing, ordering, and dispatch processes for the hospitality and catering department.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities align with the College’s financial controls and regulations.
  • Accurately input and manage stock transfers using the Stores Food & Beverage IT system.
  • Collaborate with Chef Lecturers to plan and submit orders in advance for Real Working Environment requirements.
  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and movement of stock, ensuring adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles.
  • Maintain up-to-date kitchen management records and ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and food safety regulations.
  • Ensure cleanliness, tidiness, and maintenance of practical areas, store rooms, restaurant, and kitchen facilities.
  • Support College functions and events by providing technical assistance and accompanying students on off-site visits.
  • Be trained and certified in First Aid, providing assistance when necessary.

  • Knowledge of health and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
