Capital Works Project Manager

Estates Project Management Support

Reporting to the Director of Estates. Responsible for managing capital projects from initial planning through design, procurement, construction/installation, and final handover, ensuring they meet project specifications, budgets, and deadlines.

Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are compliant, meet requirements and expectations are managed effectively.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience of capital projects in estates, construction or facilities environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects within complex and dynamic environments, involving diverse stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrable significant experience with projects is essential, ideally within estates, construction or facilities environments.
  • Qualifications/certifications in project management, construction management or related fields would be preferred.
  • Experience of project delivery in an education environment is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project scopes, objectives, and deliverables based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource requirements. Manage risks. Track and report on all of these.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders, providing regular updates and coordinating approvals and information.
  • Facilitate project meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment across stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure construction aligns with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Manage the procurement process, working with procurement colleagues and external stakeholders when appropriate. Including selection and negotiation with suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
