Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: Kings Norton – Birmingham
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the management and protection of resources by processing invoices, credit notes and associated documents through the financial systems in a timely and accurate manner in line with procedures and delegated authority
- Maintain adequate systems at all times to ensure that all expenditure is captured, processed and paid in a timely way
- Ensure the purchase ledger is accurate (e.g. master data, value, ageing, coding to GL codes and departments) and that financial systems reflect all transactions and current business performance
- Keep an auditable and organised record of detailed purchases and cash book transactions, ensuring the safe keeping of all documents as required
- Follow up with suppliers and managers on invoicing issues and queries
- Ensure credit terms are adhered to
- Process bank payments in accordance with age creditors
- Produce the payment run including authorisation and sign off process from Budget holders.
- Ensuring effective controls in place for any payments and transactions which may compromise financial procedures.
- Administration and Reconciliation of Debit Cards Posting of transactions and reconciliation.
- Dealing effectively with correspondence with suppliers and service managers
What we are looking for from you as a Finance Assistant worker:
- At least 2 years’ experience of working with purchase/sales ledgers
- Previous experience of credit control work.
- Hold or currently studying towards a relevant accounting qualification
- Previous experience of using Exchequer Enterprise or similar finance systems
- Use of Microsoft word, excel and outlook.
- PC Literate and proficient in the use of financial systems
- Systematic and methodical approach to work
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills
- An understanding and commitment to equality of opportunity
