Job Opportunity: Academic and Personal Care Assistant – SEN & SEND Support

Location: Hackney

Hours: Full-time/Part-time

We are urgently seeking an Academic and Personal Care Assistant to support students with SEN and SEND in both their educational progress and personal care needs. If you have a heart for supporting young people and want to be part of a dedicated team, this could be the perfect role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Academic Support: Assist students in the classroom, helping them to engage with lessons and activities, and provide one-to-one academic support where needed.
  • Personal Care: Offer assistance with personal care tasks such as mobility, toileting, dressing, and feeding, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Adapted Learning: Work with the teaching and SEND teams to modify learning resources and create an accessible environment that meets the needs of individual students.
  • Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships with students, offering encouragement and understanding to help them overcome challenges and reach their goals.
  • Inclusive Environment: Promote independence while ensuring that students feel supported and included in all aspects of college life.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, therapists, and families to ensure students receive holistic care and support that meets their academic and personal needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • GCSE Qualifications
  • Experience in supporting students with SEN and SEND in an educational or care setting.
  • Compassionate and Patient: A caring approach and the ability to remain calm and positive in a variety of situations.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to assist with both academic tasks and personal care, ensuring the well-being of students at all times.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents, adapting to the needs of each individual.
  • Team Player: You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide the best possible support for our students.
