Learning Support Practitioner
We are currently looking for Learning Support Practitioners for an FE college based in Romford.
Start date – September
Pay Rate: £12 to £15 per hour

The Role – Learning Support Assistant
*To work under the supervision and guidance of the tutor with students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within the Mainstream Curriculum area.
*To provide one-to-one support and group support, both direct and indirect, for students with learning difficulties and disabilities following mainstream courses, primarily in the learning environment.
*To work with the ALS Manager, LSP& EHCP Coordinator, Lead LSPs and SENCO in advising teaching staff on appropriate strategies for working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities and complex needs.
*To liaise with the Student Learning Mentors to provide a collaborative approach for at risk SEND learners and to encourage such students to attend the College.
*To use learning support systems to ensure bespoke support is provided for individual supported learners.ie uploading notes to google classroom, contributing to SEND shared point etc
*To consider the students specific needs in accordance to their EHC or Support Plan and reinforce learning to enable students to access the lesson and its content through appropriate clarification, explanations, visual aids, equipment and adapted resources.. To liaise with the SENCO and to remain updated on relevant assistive technology to enable independent learning.
*To apply appropriate communication methods, suitable to the needs and preferences of the student, to enable access to information, and to facilitate two-way communication.
*To liaise with the LEAD LSP to implement information and strategies that can be developed within the classroom environment.
*To participate in the modification and adaptation of language and curriculum content where appropriate.
*To assist in exam arrangements for formal student testing and assessments e.g. invigilating, reading, scribing etc.
*To reinforce course content and check learning.
*To document all relevant evidence relating to supported students on the college Etracker.
*To attend and contribute to EHC annual reviews.
*To attend ALS team meetings and curriculum team meetings when required to update tutors/ALS staff on supported learners.
*To arrange Progress Reviews with tutors to ensure all Support and Progress Plans and relevant record keeping are completed in a timely manner.
*To actively participate in all relevant college SLD days and any statuary online training
