Finance Assistant
Morgan Hunt are working with a College based in Hackney who are looking at recruiting a Finance Assistant. This is a 2-month contract role paying up to £19 p/hour. This will be based 5 days p/week in the office.
Key Responsibilities of the Finance Assistant:
- Ensure the delivery of a high-quality Accounts Payable service for the College, processing payments in line with college criteria while maintaining appropriate financial controls.
- Accurately record and process financial transactions, including the preparation of invoices, ensuring correct expenditure codes, compliance with authorisation levels, and addressing payment-related queries.
- Assist with the preparation of accurate payment listings, creditor reports, and manage GPC queries, working closely with Finance Officers to maintain an effective payment system.
- Ensure all documentation, including supplier requests and amendments, is maintained in line with audit requirements, and provide support for audits and the preparation of annual accounts.
- Act as the first point of contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders, providing administrative support and training to non-financial users on finance systems and processes.
- Contribute to College-wide initiatives, including promotional events, and participate in safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and data protection responsibilities, supporting the College’s mission and continuous improvement goals.
Previous Skills and Experience of the Finance Assistant:
- Minimum AAT qualified
- Ideally have experience working in the Further Education sector
- Understanding of and commitment to Equality and Diversity and safeguarding and practical ideas
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
