Morgan Hunt are working with a leafing UK government organistion to recruit for a AWS & Security Engineer.
They have a dynamic team of 4 infrastructure specialists and engineers dedicated to building, administering, supporting, and maintaining our solutions, with a primary focus on AWS environment and cloud security.
The role:-
- Collaborate with Head of IT to translate and implement architectural designs into operational solutions.
- Recommend security controls, advise on key security-related technologies, and assess risks associated with proposed changes.
- Ensure seamless integration, delivery, security, and operation of cloud services.
- Contribute to overall management, including workforce planning, budget, technology roadmaps, projects, and tasks.
- Partner with the Service Desk to ensure timely resolution of cloud infrastructure service tickets, providing guidance and support.
The majority of your role will involve supporting our AWS-based cloud infrastructure, with occasional collaboration on Azure and on-premises infrastructure. You will work closely with our Data Science and Engineering teams, as well as vendors, to introduce new AWS solutions, maintain current infrastructure, and oversee cyber security across our AWS and Azure environments.

Required Experience-
- Extensive experience in IT infrastructure and system design, including designing, implementing, testing, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure technologies.
- Proven expertise in AWS, encompassing Infrastructure as Code, AWS Security, monitoring, and automation.
- Strong development skills with proficiency in version control, scripting languages (e.g., Bash/Python), AWS security, monitoring, automation, and Docker & serverless technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of information security, including implementing security controls to mitigate threats, with a strong focus on cloud security and vulnerability remediation.
- Skilled in identifying and resolving patterns and trends in technical issues, handling 3rd line escalations, consulting with specialists as needed, and implementing preventative measures.
- Thorough understanding of technical concepts relevant to the role and how they integrate into the broader technical landscape, with the ability to make strategic and tactical recommendations confidently.
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with future developments in cloud computing and experience with re-platforming and transformation projects.
