Are you a Homelessness Assessment Officer looking for work in East London?

Morgan Hunt’s Public Sector and Government client based in East London is looking to recruit a Homelessness Assessment Officer to provide support throughout a busy period.

This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35.

As a Homelessness Assessment Officer, you will play a critical role in assessing the housing needs and vulnerabilities of individuals and families experiencing homelessness, providing support, and facilitating access to appropriate housing solutions.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals and families presenting as homeless or at risk of homelessness, gathering relevant information, and identifying support needs, vulnerabilities, and housing preferences.
  • Explore and discuss housing options with clients, considering their circumstances, preferences, and available resources. Provide advice and guidance on housing options, including social housing, private renting, and supported accommodation.
  • Develop personalised support plans for clients, outlining goals, actions, and time lines to address their housing and support needs. Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to access relevant services and support.
  • Implement homelessness prevention strategies, including mediation, financial assistance, and advocacy, to prevent evictions and secure housing stability for at-risk individuals and families.
  • Make appropriate referrals and signposts to internal and external services, including housing providers, support agencies, healthcare services, and welfare benefits, to meet client’s needs and address barriers to housing stability.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, support plans, referrals, and outcomes using the organization’s database systems. Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, local authorities, housing providers, health services, and community organisations to coordinate support services and improve access to housing solutions for homeless individuals and families.
