Salary: £15 – £20 per hour

Location: North London

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Contract: Temp – till the end of September

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We’re recruiting for a Young Women’s IDVA to provide trauma-informed, long-term support to young women aged 11-25 who are affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence, exploitation, and other forms of gender-based violence. You’ll hold a manageable caseload and offer regular 1:1 support, tailored to each individual’s needs and lived experience.

This is not a crisis-only or short-term model – you’ll work with each young person for up to 18 months, focusing not just on immediate safety, but also on long-term healing and independence.

You’ll be working flexibly – at home, in schools, in the community, or wherever feels safest for the young women you support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of up to 10 young women, providing regular 1:1 support
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and safety planning (DASH)
  • Provide practical advocacy in professional settings (police, schools, MARAC, courts)
  • Support access to housing, health care, education, and employment
  • Maintain accurate case records and safeguarding documentation
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns and follow relevant protocols
  • Work creatively to support personal development and reduce isolation
  • Contribute to team workshops, group activities, and wider service delivery
  • Engage in training and reflective practice to strengthen support provision

About You

Essential:

  • IDVA / ISVA / YPVA qualification or 1+ year experience in a similar role
  • In-depth understanding of domestic abuse, exploitation, and VAWG
  • Strong grasp of safeguarding frameworks for children and adults
  • Ability to build safe, trusted relationships with young women
  • Experience in inter-sectional, inclusive, and equitable working practices
  • Skilled in professional communication and collaborative working
  • Eligible to work in the UK and willing to complete an Enhanced DBS

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering creative or informal therapeutic interventions
  • Awareness of local needs in Barnet or neighbouring boroughs
