Animal Management Lecturer

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Animal Management Lecturer to join our team in Middlesex, Greater London. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of £27,702-£42,687 per year, inclusive of London weighting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in Animal Management.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess student work in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Support students in developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge related to animal care, welfare, and behaviour.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

    Qualifications:

  • Possess a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths or a willingness to achieve within a specified period.
  • Degree or HND (or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as Animal Management, Zoology, Biology, or Animal Behaviour.
  • A teaching qualification is desirable.
  • Assessor awards are desirable.

    Experience:

  • Background in the animal industry (zoo/farm), with a commitment to putting animals’ needs first.
  • Experience handling and managing animals for educational purposes.
  • Experience presenting animals for student education.
  • Experience working in an educational or training environment.
  • Experience working with 16-18-year-olds, young adults, and adult learners.
  • Administrative experience.

    Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of zoo management, animal behaviour, enrichment, primate management, and animal business.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching and guiding students at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Information Learning Technology applications and an interest in instructor-led training.

    Other Factors:

  • Understanding of and commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Emotional resilience.
  • Determination to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
  • If the role involves regular driving, a clean driving licence is required.
