Associate Art Technician Opportunity – Bedfordshire Area

Morgan Hunt is proud to partner with a highly regarded sixth form college in the Bedfordshire area to find a passionate and skilled Associate Art Technician. Position Details:

  • Job Title: Associate Art Technician
  • Location: Bedfordshire
  • Hours: 12 hours per week – Term Time – Until 30th June 2025
  • Start Date: ASAP (subject to interview)
  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Pay Rate: £13 per hour

Key Responsibilities: As an Associate Art Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the success of our students through tasks such as

  • Checking and maintaining art and design equipment (e.g., sewing machines, print presses, studio lighting)
  • Ensuring a tidy and safe working environment for Art and Design A-level staff and students
  • Painting display boards and decorating
  • Logging maintenance and IT issues
  • Displaying and hanging artwork as needed
  • Ordering, auditing, and managing stock inventory
  • Maintaining the darkroom
  • Setting up for lessons, assisting during lessons when necessary, and tidying up afterward
  • Opening or locking up the department at the end of the day, when required
  • Supervising the art & design department, including students, equipment, and various rooms

About You: The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in art or a related field
  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics (grades A-C) or equivalent
  • Industry experience in the art sector
  • Strong organizational skills, including meeting deadlines and monitoring data
  • A commitment to staying updated on developments in the art field and sharing expertise with colleagues
  • Evidence of high performance in previous roles
  • Experience working effectively with diverse groups
  • An understanding of how to promote equality and diversity within the role
  • The ability to research, develop, and implement new learning materials to engage students
  • A focus on enhancing students’ learning experiences by incorporating appropriate vocational opportunities
  • A commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, with an understanding of the importance of raising concerns when necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum GCSE qualifications in Maths & English
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check on the update service
  • A genuine passion for art
